How did the EFA projects come about?
In March of 2005, USAID Missions around the world were invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs). Of the 16 applications received, 9 passed to the next round and were invited to submit a full project proposal. After a rigorous selection process, three USAID Mission projects were selected for Jamaica, South Africa, and Uganda. Each project is driven by the mission to help generate and increase livelihood opportunities for young people, yet demonstrate innovative designs in achieving this shared mission.
