Funding Partners - USAID:
All three EFA projects are funded under a co-finance mechanism including funds from EQUIP3 as well as each individual USAID country mission. In each case, the work is carried out through a cooperative agreement between each country mission and Education Development Center (EDC), which then issues a sub-grant to the implementing partner in each country.
USAID Jamaica
Taking into account that EFA Jamaica addresses youth needs in different sectors including health, education, and economic growth, USAID Jamaica used an established cross-sectoral approach to fund this project. The cross-sectoral nature of this project captivates the interest of different members within the country mission, who are receptive to project developments and constantly contribute with strategic suggestions. USAID South Africa
The main funding source funneled through USAID South Africa to this project came from the Global Development Alliance (GDA), as a way to foster private sector engagement in service learning and youth programs. Visit USAID South Africa
USAID Uganda
USAID Uganda has given priority to youth programming by funding this project, which aims to improve the effective use of social sector services and strengthen the enabling environment for social sector services, through its Education sector. Visit USAID Uganda
EQUIP3
As a way to generate greater local interest in and commitment to youth programming, EQUIP3/EDC launched the EFA Youth Challenge Grant Program under a co-financing mechanism proposing to combine funds from EQUIP3, as part of pilot project initiatives, and from USAID country missions, as part of their country strategic plan. All EFA projects are financed under this mechanism and the belief that contributions from both funding streams will result in enhanced programming and documentation of lessons learned.
